History
Hatena Mag was first made in 2011 by the exact same person who made this site, and who wrote this. He is known as Subliminal, on Flipnote Hatena.
When the first Hatena Mag issue was posted on Flipnote Hatena, it gained little attention, but enough to attract the attention of both popular creators Squirt and AndRew. When Squirt added 50 stars to it, everybody acted like it was some huge achievement.

It probably wouldn't have even gotten the two-thousand-and-something stars if it wasn't for the words on the front page (thumbnail), "HCUC - Friend or Foe?"
At the time, there was this attempt-at-fixing-Hatena group made by AndRew, called the Hatena Clean-Up Crew, or HCUC. Basically his idea was when they saw a star-begging, scam, etc. Flipnote they un-linked it to all channels and linked it to a "FAILS" channel or something. I'm not sure, it's been a long time. This group achieved massive popularity and hundreds of applications to join, but this was a problem, since AndRew made the mistake of promising every applicant a green star, which is the sole reason 98% of the members applied. At the time, I had a different username, so he won't remember/recognise me if you asked him, but...
We were in, I think it was, one of his HCUC flips, I'm not entirely sure. The comments were going fast, because people were repeatedly telling AndRew to shut down the HCUC, and flaming him. I was one of the people against him. We got to a point where he claimed that he talked to Hatena about making the HCUC, and they liked the idea so much that they gave him 100 green stars. AndRew has denied that ever happening since, as seen in the Comments in the first Hatena Mag post, saying, exact quote: "FAIL" and "lies." Don't believe me? Check the Comments in my first Hatena Mag post.
The HCUC has since shut down, or at least subsided. Yet AndRew still left most of his, if not all, HCUC flipnotes, and the HCUC channel up, so he won't lose all the stars he stole. I said stole, because the Hatena Clean-Up Crew is/was not the first attempt-at-saving-Hatena group.
I WOULD have made an attempt-at-fixing-Hatena group myself, but I am still thinking about it...
